The new CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Demonstration Program is effective July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027. The program provides eligible Medicare beneficiaries with access to select GLP-1 medications for weight loss and weight maintenance at a reduced cost.

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Demonstration is a CMS-administered program that operates outside of the Medicare Part D benefit and is designed to provide temporary access to eligible medications while CMS evaluates future coverage options. Coverage decisions are made by CMS and its designated program administrator rather than Medicare Part D plans.

Key Information for Providers

• Prior authorization is required through CMS. Submit electronic PA at https://www.covermymeds.health OR Fax to 1-800-530-2404.
• Approved beneficiaries pay a $50 monthly copayment for covered medications.
• Prescribers should include an obesity diagnosis code (the E66 family) and indicate “SEND TO BRIDGE FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT” as a note or annotation on the prescription.
• Patients must meet CMS eligibility requirements, including applicable BMI and clinical criteria.
