From the three months before you turn 65 to the three months after your 65th birthday, you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan during what is called your Initial Coverage Enrollment Period.
If you have Medicare coverage, you can enroll or change your plan during an Annual Election Period (called AEP) from October 15 through December 7. Any changes that you make will take effect on January 1.
From January 1 to March 31, Medicare Advantage plan enrollees can make a one-time change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another or change from Medicare Advantage to Original Medicare (with or without Part D). In order to take advantage of Open Enrollment, you must be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan.
You may have an opportunity to participate in a special enrollment period if you have Medicaid, are eligible for Extra Help, or if certain events happen in your life. You also may be eligible if you permanently move outside of your current Medicare plan’s service area or if you lose other insurance coverage.
Once you submit your application to Jefferson Health Plans Medicare Advantage, we will review your information and confirm your eligibility.
If everything is in order, we’ll send you a confirmation letter that can serve as proof of membership until you receive your member ID card in the mail. It’s that easy!
Before your effective date with Jefferson Health Plans, we will send you important plan information, including a Member ID Card, Jefferson Health Plans Flex Card for covered OTC purchases and additional dental, vision, and hearing spend, and information about the rewards we offer for healthy behaviors. We’ll also send a welcome kit so you can make the most of your Jefferson Health Plans membership.
